BOB Hydrographics, LLC (BOB) is a small business specializing in geophysical surveys for marine, underwater, and terrestrial archaeology applications, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment like magnetometers, ground penetrating radar, sonar, acoustic sub-bottom profilers, and echo sounders.
Founded by Robert Gearhart, the company was built upon a remarkable foundation of over three decades of archaeological experience and was instrumental in numerous significant projects, including the discovery and archaeological data recovery of the Civil War gunboat, the USS Westfield, in Galveston Bay. Mr. Gearhart's legacy includes managing and directing contracts with entities like the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, and holding 90 Texas Antiquities Permits as Principal Investigator. He also notably authored a chapter in The Oxford Handbook of Maritime Archaeology, titled Archaeological Interpretation of Marine Magnetic Data.
Today, BOB Hydrographics is proudly owned and led by Hunter Whitehead. Hunter is dedicated to preserving the company's rigorous standards and commitment to excellence. He brings over ten years of experience in the industry, ensuring that BOB continues to deliver expert geophysical and archaeological services to meet the evolving needs of our clients across the Gulf of Mexico and beyond.
